SCHOOL NEWS

BUILDING PROJECT: Raysett Constructions have begun work on our refurbishment project for the Mercy building.  These works are expected to be completed for the commencement of Term 3.

CORONAVIRUS:

Good hygiene practices are the most effective means of minimising the spread of COVID-19, and we are continuing to promote these practices with our students. The easiest way to protect yourself is to pay attention to good hand hygiene and respiratory hygiene by covering your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing with a tissue, or cough into your elbow, dispose of the tissue into a bin and then wash your hands afterwards. Wash your hands regularly, after using the toilet and before eating.

In fairness to all, if you are unwell we ask that you please do not come into the school building or grounds. If family members are unwell it is best that children don’t come to school.

We thank you for your co-operation.

WHIMSICAL MORNINGS

How truly blessed we are here at St. Mary’s to be part of a generous, kind and giving community. Our, ‘Whimsical Mornings – Hanging by a Thread’ photo exhibition was indeed a creative and fun-filled way of bringing people together to relax and enjoy each other’s company along with being entertained by the talented local MaCapella singers and harpist Alan Evans, not to mention taking in the interesting works on display!

Donna Morelli’s idea that moments of the often unpredictable morning routine were captured in photograph did provoke conversation where our visitors were able to relax and laugh over a drink whilst trying out the vast array of delectable eats. Our heartfelt thanks to you, our families, friends, parishioners, staff and local traders for your plentiful donations and contributions towards this fundraising event. So far we have raised $2,000.00 which will pay for our interactive play area and playground improvements.

We are deeply appreciative of the donations made by The Red Hill Hotel, IGA Maxi Castlemaine, IGA Castlemaine Plus Liquor, Castlemaine Fresh, Castlemaine Copy Centre, Baker’s Delight, ASQ Skydancers Garden & Landscapes, Castlemaine Office Supplies, Chapman’s of Castlemaine Picture Framers, Peddling Pastries, Castlemaine Fitness Centre, Castlemaine Central Wine Store, Victorian Goldfields Railway, Maine Shoes and Accessories, Robinson’s, Stoneman’s Bookroom, Zigo Zago, Harcourt Valley Vineyards, Lyal Eales Store and Mulberry's Delicatessen.

When our children engage with community they feel valued and learn that they can draw on the support of a wider body of people. They learn that we work together for the common good, in relationship and that this involves giving as well as receiving.
